How claims are labelled
Every statement on the Chinese pages carries one of four labels, and the English article uses the same system:
- Documented backed by public records, heritage listings, book reviews or prefaces that we could read
- Genealogy claim stated by a genealogy or a genealogy website; listed side by side, never adjudicated
- Inference the compiler's own analysis, with no direct source
- Unverified no reliable source yet, or sources conflict
What is in the Chinese archive
- 潮汕历史与文化脉络: the historical timeline.
- 潮阳郑氏族谱三系 and 郑氏族谱说法核实: three Zheng lineages of Chaoyang compared, and common claims checked.
- 潮汕英歌舞是什么 and 游神(营老爷)是什么: Yingge dance and the village deity procession.
- 侨批是什么 and 潮州会馆: qiaopi remittance letters and Teochew associations in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Not covered yet
Unverified The Teochew language and Teochew food are not yet in the archive: the research behind it has not covered them, so there is no page rather than a thin one.
